UCI helps uncover source of rapid ice melt in Greenland
While conducting a study of the Petermann Glacier in northwest Greenland, researchers at UCI and NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory uncovered a previously unseen way in which the ice and ocean interact. The glaciologists said their findings could mean that climate scientists have been vastly underestimating the magnitude of future sea level rise caused by polar ice deterioration.

Student Excellence Center unveils dedication plaque
The Student Excellence Center recently unveiled a dedication plaque to commemorate the partnership between UCI Libraries and the Office of the Vice Provost for Teaching and Learning that brought the SEC to life. The plaque memorializes the opening of the SEC on Oct. 20, 2021, and lists the campus leaders who were integral to its establishment. With a partnership that started in 2016, UCI Libraries and the OVPTL designed the SEC as a hub to unite important student programs with key library services in one central location. The SEC is located on the fifth floor of the Science Library.
