UCI doctor named to Presidential Advisory Council

Dr. Susan Huang, a Chancellor's Professor of medicine and medical director of epidemiology and infection prevention for UCI Health
Dr. Susan Huang, a Chancellor's Professor of medicine and medical director of epidemiology and infection prevention for UCI Health, has been appointed to the Presidential Advisory Council on Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria. Huang is internationally recognized for her research on the spread and containment of multidrug-resistant organisms and strategies to prevent healthcare-associated infections. As a member of the council, she will advise the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on strategies to combat antimicrobial resistance.

As one of the University of California’s larger and faster-growing campuses, UCI is emerging as a trailblazer in the system’s mission to build a more sustainable future by ensuring that at least 90% of its waste is recycled. Zero waste is a gargantuan goal and requires the concerted efforts of various departments and people to create an increasingly eco-friendly and waste-conscious university.

UCI’s winter commencement ceremony took place Monday morning, with 4,700 guests on hand to witness 675 undergraduates from across campus receive their degrees. Master’s degrees were also awarded in information & computer sciences and engineering. Meymuna Hussein-Cattan was the featured speaker.
