UCI ANNOUNCEMENTS AND NEWS

Unsilencing Black history

Unsilencing Black history

One of the hallmarks of the School of Humanities is its faculty expertise on the vast history of people of African descent. Professors research and teach courses on Haitian history, Black Muslim communities and slave rebellions – and they organize lecture series on early and modern African American art, music, film, literature and more.

COVID reminders

With California’s COVID-19 state of emergency ending today, employees and students are reminded to continue to report their COVID-19 cases to Contact Tracing and Vaccine Navigation Services, which continues to investigate and contact trace cases. Free face coverings and antigen tests continue to be available on campus. Please note that the end of the emergency does not mean the end of COVID-19, so individuals should continue to gauge their risk and take steps to protect themselves and their communities by staying up to date with vaccinations and boosters, staying home if sick, testing, washing hands, and wearing masks when appropriate.

UCI researchers help Santa Ana address environmental injustice

Researchers from UCI's EcoGovLab and AirUCI and others convened to begin building greater understanding of the work that different stakeholders – including government agencies – can do, independently and collaboratively, to address Santa Ana’s pollution burden.

UC NEWS AND GENERAL NEWS

How California became a food and wine lover's dream

In the late 1800s, UC soil scientists led the foundational research that showed farmers how to remove salts from the alkali soils of the Central Valley, transforming barren land into one of the world’s most productive farming regions. UC researchers also helped establish California’s wine industry, then brought it back from the brink after Prohibition nearly destroyed it.
