Don’t wait to help a friend struggling with depression

UCI Health psychiatrist Dr. Rimal Bera recently told Larry Mantle of LAist’s AirTalk that many people underestimate the power of listening to a friend who is struggling with depression. “It’s human nature to sense when someone is in distress, and not want to interfere,” Bera said. “But this is a time where you want to get closer rather than retreat.”

Housing IT official honored

Markus Quon, manager of Housing IT

Markus Quon, manager of Housing IT, was recognized as new professional of the year by the National Association of Campus Card Users at the group’s annual conference in Kentucky this month. Quon helps manage IT applications and systems used by the six on-campus managed properties and the housing administrative services office. His team designed and implemented a comprehensive student housing occupancy and billing system.
