$11 million pledged for support of advanced cancer research

The Clemons Family Foundation – led by (above, from left) Anne Marie Clemons-Thomas, V. Gordon Clemons Jr., M.B.A. ’04, and Marie Clemons) – has pledged $11 million to support cancer research and provide capital funding for the Falling Leaves Foundation Medical Innovation Building on campus and the Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center at UCI Health – Irvine, where fourth-floor terrace will be named the Clemons Family Outdoor Patient Infusion Area. The floor will provide patients undergoing chemotherapy with a calming pre- and post-treatment area that overlooks a vast naturescape of protected wetlands.

A feeling of dizziness and tightness in the chest can be a heart attack. It could also be angina, which is caused by a reduction of blood flow to the heart. How can one tell the difference? “Suspect a heart attack when your symptoms come on suddenly and very strongly and do not resolve with rest,” says UCI Health cardiologist Dr. Ailin Barseghian El-Farra.

Advance registration is still available for tomorrow’s virtual town hall to discuss the evolving federal funding landscape and its impact on our shared commitment to inclusive excellence.
