Before the city of Irvine was founded, before a single classroom welcomed a student and long before the name “UC Irvine” carried any weight in the academic world, a young neurobiologist took a gamble on a bold idea. That man was James McGaugh, who would become not only a founding UC Irvine faculty member but one of the essential architects of the university. The Distinguished Professor Emeritus reflects on the campus’s early days.

2025 W-2 statements

The 2025 W-2 statements will be available in UCPath this week. Employees who opted for an electronic version of their W-2 statement will receive an email notification when their W-2 statement is available. Employees who did not opt-in for an electronic version may still access their W-2 statement in UCPath, and a printed W-2 statement will be sent to the mailing address listed in UCPath no later than Feb. 2.

The Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SSHP) at UC Irvine was granted a Student Chapter Community Service Project Award by the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists (CSHP).

The Student Society of Health-System Pharmacists has been recognized with a Student Chapter Community Service Project award by the California Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The award recognizes the SSHP chapter’s “Summer Health” sessions, which, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Tustin, taught elementary school children about sun safety, heat-related illnesses and hydration.
